We know that women are more likely to make multi-purpose journeys, such as combining school drop-offs, care responsibilities and errands within a single trip.
Living Streets wants you to #WalkOut every day in May and go for a walk for yourself and your own enjoyment.
A mass #WalkOut will be organised for Friday 29 May to mark National Walking Month – will you join us?
You can #WalkOut for 20 minutes from your home or workplace or join with friends near you.
The event also throws a spotlight on the need for safer streets for women, girls and minority genders. All too often women and girls are put off walking, due to unsafe streets, fear of harassment and poor lighting. This needs to change. It is time that women can #WalkOut with confidence, we deserve safe streets for ourselves, our friends, daughters, mums and grandmas.

You don’t have to be a woman to #WalkOut. Anyone who wants to see more women walking safely on our streets can #WalkOut. You can #WalkOut in solidarity or you can support the #WalkOut by taking charge of one of those multi-purpose journeys, so a woman in your life can just walk or wheel for the joy of it!
